Our Mission
Uniting through Sports
More than one billion people in the world live with some form of disability and at least one-fifth face serious difficulties in their daily lives. The Federazione Sammarinese Sport Speciali promotes Sport as a right for everyone and a powerful tool for inclusion and happiness for people with intellectual disabilities. We work hard with passion and dedication to achieve this goal with our Athletes every day, on the field and in life.
Our nonprofit organization promotes Sports as a fundamental right through an inclusive approach in a welcoming environment, bringing together Athletes of all ages, with and without intellectual disabilities. Our Mission is to break down barriers and fight against social exclusion by playing sports, to grow together and learn useful skills on the field and in every other aspect, from school to work to social life. F.S.S.S. Athletes compete in a wide range of sports, bravely fighting for goals that go beyond winning medals, such as validation, inclusion, and personal development.

Special Olympics Philosophy
A goal that goes beyond Sports
Every F.S.S.S. Athlete is also a Special Olympics Athlete: the Federazione Sammarinese Sport Speciali has proudly embraced the Special Olympics philosophy since 1984. This global movement revolutionizes the concept of Sport itself and promotes a more inclusive society through sports, made of acceptance and respect for every individual, regardless of their mental and physical abilities.
Special Olympics goes beyond the idea of sports competition, focusing on the personal and social growth of Athletes rather than quantitative goals, countering social exclusion by recognizing the value of human beings and their abilities. Differently abled Athletes who take part in Unified Sport develop empathy, mediation skills, a greater sense of responsibility, social and emotional security: a true revolution, a driving force for the social transformation we hope for the present and the future, where a sense of community and understanding of others can combat bullying and social exclusion.

Goals, passion and motivation
The Federazione Sammarinese Sport Speciali is made of people who, since its origins in 1983, have put their knowledge, passion and hard work at the service of others with one great goal: changing the world.
Today, at F.S.S.S., we never stop working hard, striving every day to deliver a powerful message of inclusion through Sport. We are aware of the difficulties that lie ahead but we also know that people who share our values, like Coaches, Volunteers and Family members, work hard every day to reach this goal.
